Sint Maarten
Sint Maarten, the southern part of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, known for its unique division between the Netherlands and France, the only one of its kind in the Caribbean. The island's history dates back to the times of the indigenous Arawaks and Caribs, and in the 17th century, it became the subject of rivalry between European powers. In 1648, the Treaty of Concordia peacefully divided Saint Martin between the two countries, allowing for the peaceful development of trade and culture.
